Laser Therapy for the Relief of Pain

Dr. George Kollias has been treating the residents of the Westchase and Town N' Country for over fifteen years as a Chiropractic physician. Over that time frame he has developed a successful and diverse practice which combines traditional techniques with new innovations in technology. With that in mind, Dr. Kollias added MLS laser therapy to his practice as a powerful tool to treat pain without the use of drugs or surgery.

"I was first introduced to the laser therapy about 7 years ago. I had suffered an injury to my right shoulder while treating a patient and was in a lot of pain, so much so that I was unable to work for over a month. During that time, I experimented with just about every treatment under the sun to 'fix' my painful ' frozen shoulder. ' I tried everything, ultrasound, acupuncture, massage, electrical muscle stimulation and even biofeedback. My shoulder hurt so much I could barely raise it. I was becoming very concerned and frightened because, as a chiropractor, I make my living by using my hands and I wasn't able to. My practice was suffering and I had to hire another doctor to see my patients. At this point, I was willing to try anything. It was at this time that through some good luck, I was offered a treatment using 'low-level' or 'cold' laser therapy.

The laser used was a relatively low powered class 3 laser and I was not very hopeful of success. But after one treatment, I was able to lift my shoulder by about double what I could before and my pain was also decreased. The next day I received an additional treatment, this "jumpstarted" my ability to move my injured shoulder more freely. After this second treatment I was able to begin the process of strengthening it and returning it to normal, I was back at work within the week! I was so impressed that I immediately purchased the unit for my practice.

Over the years, I've had great success with this laser unit but It wasn't powerful enough to treat deeper injuries. Then, just a few months ago I was introduced to the M6 laser built by ASA in Italy. The MLS laser incorporates the high power of a class 4 laser but through utilizing a pulsed beam it stays 'cool' making it extremely safe and comfortable to the patient".

In December of 2011 I was introduced to the M6 robotic laser manufactured by ASA in Italy. The MLS laser uses higher power than earlier lasers but stays cool by pulsing the beam, making it extremely safe and comfortable to the patient.

The M6 MLS laser quickly became my “go to” therapy for many stubborn injuries that are slow to respond to traditional methods. Now, I cannot imagine my clinic without this therapy. It is by far the most effective treatment modality that I have seen for conditions like golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and most musculoskeletal conditions.

Autumn M. Scaz, D.C

Tampa, FL Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy for the Relief of Pain

Autumn M. Scaz, DC, received her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University in 2000.  Since becoming a board certified Chiropractic Physician, she has had held a license in the state of Florida, as well as, the state of Tennessee. Prior to moving to Tampa in 2012, Dr. Scaz practiced in her home town of Sarasota, FL, with her practice focusing on family care, as well as spinal correction and rehabilitation.

While her parents introduced her to chiropractic at a young age, it was during her undergraduate studies at Stetson University that she experienced the true power of what chiropractic adjustment could accomplish. Majoring in Piano Performance and minoring in Exercise Science, she sought out chiropractic care to help with headaches caused by tension in the neck and shoulders due to several hours of daily piano practice.  After several months of treatments she realized that, through chiropractic adjustments, she was unexpectedly free from another condition that she had suffered from since childhood, asthma.  It was then that she decided to pursue a career in Chiropractic.

Dr. Scaz may also use MLS laser therapy in her treatment plans to provide patients with natural pain relief and expedite the healing process. This cutting-edge treatment utilizes low-level laser energy to stimulate cellular repair, decrease inflammation, and improve circulation in the affected area, leading to faster pain relief and recovery. As a chiropractor who prioritizes patient-centered and non-invasive treatments, Dr. Scaz finds MLS laser therapy to be a safe and effective option for her patients. By integrating MLS laser therapy with chiropractic techniques such as adjustments, Dr. Scaz can create customized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs, resulting in a personalized and comprehensive care experience.

Currently, Dr. Scaz is thrilled to be a part of Sheldon Road Chiropractic and Massage Therapy, where the team offers the most up-to-date treatment options and the highest quality of care to their patients.
